Spain - Costa Calida to Costa Blanca
We took the motorway inland to Murcia which was founded in 825 AD. King Alfonso X has been here too. He apparently conquered the town in the 13th century and it became a part of the Kingdom of Castile. As you approach Murcia the first thing you see for miles around is this large statue. The modern town of Murcia has also prospered from its history of gold mining but we notice that there are a lot of poorer areas outside the town centre.
